XTorrent

I’ve been playing with the public beta release of David Watanabe’s new application, XTorrent today and I have to say, I’m impressed. If you’re looking for a bittorrent application, I suggest you try it out. XTorrent lets you specify sites to search in an integrated web browser, and is smart enough to know when you’ve clicked on a torrent file, adding it to the downloads. Goodbye torrent files all over my desktop! I’ve had a few minor problems (downloads from the main search list not getting added to the download manager?), but that’s to be expected. For a public beta it seems very stable. From a development standpoint, it must have been nice to be able to take advantage of a lot of the UI code from Acquisition, another very well designed application.
Also, I think this application gets the award for the quickest adoption of new iTunes 7 interface elements!
